1£® Host Venue - WuYi Fountain
Palm Golf Club ¡¡¡¡The WuYi Fountain Palm Golf course is a new Nicklaus
Design layout of three 9-hole combinations North, West and East set amidst undulating
terrain and with Bermuda fairways, tees and greens. The club is located in the
city of Jiangmen on the Pearl River Delta, about 1 hour's drive from the city
of Guangzhou and about 1.5 hour's drive from the cities of Zhuhai and Macau. It
is about 3 hours by ferry and bus from Hong Kong. ¡¡¡¡WuYi Fountain Palm
Golf Club had the honor to host the 24th Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship
(The Normura Cup) in 2002. Being the top men's amateur championship in Asia Pacific,
some of the best young amateur golfers in the region were on show. The ruling
body is Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, which currently has 25 member golf associations
stretching from Qatar in the Middle East to New Zealand in the Pacific. The club's
par 72 North/West championship course, measuring 6890 yards, was opened for the
championship and scoring was expected to be impressive from such a talented field.
In the end the consistency of the Australian team proved decisive, as their combined
score of 50 under par was 7 shots better than runners-up - New Zealand and Japan.
Half the field broke par in the 72 hole event - a measure of the world class talent
player in the championship. ¡¡¡¡Last year the club introduced the WuYi
Open Amateur Championship, attracting top amateurs from southern China and Hong
Kong. It also hold an international junior tournament - the WuYi Angela Leong
Cup which is sponsored by the club's Vice Chairman and Deputy Director Miss Angela
Leong, her vision is that the event at WuYi eventually because a center of junior
golf - a "Shao Lin Temple" equivalent for aspiring junior golfers from
throughout China. ¡¡¡¡The club also provides excellent clubhouse facilities.
A driving range of 32 bays accommodating practice off both mats and grass, with
night and day service, is located within the clubhouse area with Golf Academy
and pro-shop. A coffee shop serves a good range of Chinese, Asian and Western
food and, if given sufficient notice, can provide a special menu. A foot &
Massage Center located next to the clubhouse provides a relaxing and soothing
environment after a round of golf. ¡¡¡¡The Macau Jockey Club Members'
Lodge, located alongside the 7th fairway of the West Course, offers 42 guest
rooms to players to spend extra time playing golf at the club while staying
in very comfortable and convenient accommodation right on the course. The newly
opened swimming pool will provide additional amenity for residents and guests.

3. Tourist Visa ¡¡¡¡Participants from some
countries may require a "tourist visa" to enter China. A "Tourist
Visa" must be applied for at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate of your home
country before joining the tournament. Please take note that neither business
visa, sports visa nor work permit is needed. The tourist visa means the same as
the "sightseeing visa". 4. Climate ¡¡¡¡The climate
during April is usually very pleasant with temperature ranging from 17 degrees
Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. There can be the occasional chilly wind and it
is advisable to bring a sweater. 5. Caddies ¡¡¡¡No golf carts
are available nor will be used for the Championship. Caddies from WuYi Fountain
Palm Golf Club are available at a charge of RMB100/US$15 per round. Gratuity a
to caddie is normally up to HK$50/US$7 per round. Participants can use their own
caddies. 6. Payment ¡¡¡¡It is necessary to use a passbook
issued by Wuyi Fountain Palm Golf Club for all expenses incurred either in the
clubhouse or on the golf course. The outstanding balance of the passbook should
be settled with the clubhouse reception before leaving the club each day. Payment
by HK$/RMB cash or major credit cards is accepted. The official hotel accepts
all major credit cards and cash in US$, RMB or HK$. The currency used in China
is Renminbi (RMB). The exchange rate is about RMB8 to US$1. The club will be able
to advise the most suitable bank in Jiangmen for currency exchange. 7.
Transfer to Jiangmen, Guangdong, China ¡¡(a) From Hong Kong Airport
¡¡¡¡¡¡To access the ferry departing for Jiangmen take the Airport Express train
from the ¡¡¡¡¡¡airport into Kowloon. The Airport Express is the fastest and
most convenient form of ¡¡¡¡¡¡transport costing HK$100 one way and takes approximately
25 minutes for the journey ¡¡¡¡¡¡to Kowloon. Airport Express trains are located
close to the Arrivals area and tickets ¡¡¡¡¡¡should be purchased in the Arrivals
area. Trains depart every 10-15 minutes. ¡¡(b) From China Hong Kong City
Ferry Terminal, Kowloon, Hong Kong ¡¡¡¡¡¡For this terminal you should get
off the Airport Express at Kowloon Station. There ¡¡¡¡¡¡are shuttle bus services
located next to the station and one of these will connect ¡¡¡¡¡¡with China Hong
Kong City. However we would advise that you take a taxi as the ¡¡¡¡¡¡distance

Airport Guangdong, ¡¡¡¡¡¡China. It is an hour's drive to WuYi Fountain Palm
Golf Club. A WuYi shuttle car be ¡¡¡¡¡¡reserved for RMB400. It is good for 3
people with baggage. 8. Club to/from Official Hotel Shuttle Service
¡¡¡¡A complimentary shuttle service between the Club and official Hotel will
operate during the period of Championship. The journey takes about 10 minutes.
The schedule will be made available upon your arrival at the hotel. 9.
Local Costs ¡¡¡¡Costs in Jiangmen are comparatively cheap. Taxi base rate
(flagfall) is RMB5 and a reasonable Chinese meal can be RMB50-RMB60 per head.
10. Airport Departure Tax ¡¡¡¡For international flights departing
from mainland China the airport departure tax is RMB90/US$11.25 per person.
