The 2005 Ladies
Asian Golf Tour’s second day tournament was played under a
fine sunny day. Many players achieved very good results from
today’s competition. Korean lady Hong Ran returned with total
score 134 of 10 under set at the first place. She teed off
at 7:50am from hole no. 10 hitting a birdie and finished first
nine with a tremendous 31. At the back nine, the 18 year old
lady continued to hit birdie on hole 4, 5, 6 and 9 and finished
at 64.
Hong’s talent of golf was discovered from her father who
was a merchant. She learned to play golf and turned into pro
since last September. She then took the trophy of 1st runner
in the 2004 Xenia Golf Championship in Korea. Despite of the
mature performance on the golf course, Hong was actually a
lovely small girl when she was interviewed at the press conference
after the tournament. She said her idol was Won Bin, she likes
meeting with friends, she will continue her study……… and she
cared what her photos will look like……
The focus of local media, China’s Ye Li Ying was also in
her good form, finished with 68 today. She set at the second
place with total score of 137. Yesterday’s number one player
Park Han Nim finished with 70 with total 137 setting the same
place as Ye. During the press conference, Ye has talked about
her hard experience in US and how she got the qualification
in the US Open. She was happy to participate in WuYi Championship
which she thought should be a good experience before she left
for US to join a series of tournaments in US three months
later. She mentioned that she will concentrate on the US tournaments
so that she will not be often show up in China.
Tomorrow will be a Q-school and top 50 players (including
tie, amateur not counted) will participate in the final day
tournament. Total 66 ladies(60 pros and 6 amateurs) with score
9 over will play in the next day’s competition. We stay tuned
for the final.
