The 14th China Amateur Women's
Open Golf Championship organized by China Golf Association,
Guangdong Golf Association, Richtone Worldwide Ltd. was successfully
held at WuYi Fountain Palm Golf Club form Nov. 14, 2001-November
16,2001.
44 lady golfers gathered at WuYi Golf Club qualified to compete
in the final round of the tournament. The cold and rainy weather
really made the game more difficult. First round's leaders
of Division A were Wu Qun Fang from WuYi Golf Club and Tseng
Ya Ni from Chinese Taipei respectively. Division B & C's
leaders were Huang Dong Mei from Luhu Golf Club and Li Wei
from Mission Hills Golf Club respectively.
The second day's tournament was still under tough weather
condition. Division A's result was the same as first day.
On the final day, the windy and difficult course produced
a dramatic result. Lu Hsiao Ching and Yu Pei Lin from Chinese
Taipei shot the same score of 227 and Lu finally won by a
birdie at the palyoff hole. Lu was crowned as the winner of
Division A and the Best Gross. The winners of Division B was
Wang Yan Hua(244) from China and Division C was Li Wei(267)
from Mission Hills Golf Club.
The prize giving ceremony was held immediately after the
tournament. Vice Secretary General of China Golf Association
Miss Wang Qun, Director & General Manager of WuYi Fountain
Palm Golf Mr. Aylwin Tai. Director & Deputy General Manager
of WuYi Fountain Palm Golf Club Mr. Leslie Kuan, General Manager
of Putting Green Co. Ltd. Mr. Stephen Sih and representative
of Wanasports Co. Ltd. Mr. Wong Chor Kang presented the prizes
to all the winners. This year's event was sponsored by Putting
Green Co. Ltd., Wanasports Co. Ltd., Huasanquan Mineral Waters
Co. Ltd., Richtone Worldwide Ltd., Ericsson (China) Co. Ltd.
and Palace Hotel Jiangmen. The host venue, WuYi Fountain Palm
Golf Club, was invested by Hong Kong & Macau celebrity
Dr. Stanley Ho. The 27-hole golf course was designed by Jack
Nicklaus Jr. and was opened for play. The challenging championship
golf course and its professional management make the WuYi
Fountain Palm Golf Club an ideal venue for any international
big event. |
